October Market Overview
Despite a small dip in the summer, home prices remain relatively high. In August, the median home price was $585,000 - a bit lower than the peak in June. However, prices are still up compared to last year, by about 5.4%. Interestingly, townhomes and condominiums are rising in price faster than single-family homes. It seems that some buyers are taking a cautious approach and waiting to see what happens in the market, while others are forging ahead. Those who purchased in August had to submit an average of 3 offers, so it's clear that competition is still fierce.
As we move into the fall buying season, it will be interesting to see if things cool off a bit, or if the low inventory keeps things just as intense. Either way, if you have any questions or real estate needs, we're here to help - let's chat!
October Home Maintenance Checklist
Clear Out Rain Gutters & Downspouts: Clean gutters, downspouts and clear blockages. This is a leading cause of water damage to a home. The water gets blocked and causes damage to the exterior landscape, building and flooding can occur as a result of the blockage.
Check Fire Extinguishers: October is fire safety month. Now is a good time to have a fire safety and evacuation conversation with your family. Check to make sure your fire extinguishers work. If you don't have one now is a good time to get one (or a few).
Clean Out Dryer Lint: Dryer fires account for 2,900 annual fires. Try and get in the habit of cleaning this every time you wash. Failure to remove lint from the dryer is the leading cause of dryer fires.
